Personal Evolution: Becoming Who I Am (Through Motherhood)

Becoming a mother unraveled every version of success I thought I needed. This personal note reflects on how motherhood sparked a quiet, powerful evolution... not toward something new, but back to what’s essential. This is a story of identity, presence, and the truth that real growth often begins with remembering.

Becoming a mother awoke something in me I didn’t even know existed.

It stripped away everything that had seemingly mattered before  including the illusion that worth was something to be proven through achievement or motion.

For years, I had built my life on doing: the next milestone, the next success, the next way to feel like I was enough. But when Andrew arrived, all of that structure crumbled in the best possible way. The metrics that had once defined me - productivity, progress, performance - no longer applied.

In their place came something infinitely truer. Presence.

Not the kind that required effort, but the kind that comes when you’re so fully immersed in a moment that time itself seems non existent.

Motherhood became my initiation into evolution. It wasn’t a change that came from setting new goals or finding a new path… it was an awakening that rearranged what I valued at the core. I began to see that evolution isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about reconnecting to who you are beneath everything the world told you to be.

That realization has shaped every piece of my work since. It is the root of The Overflow Journals, the heart of Sabbatical Living, and the reason I believe so deeply in the quiet power of personal transformation.

Every time I hold a journal I have written in and I see my own personal evolution — I think of that version of myself who was redefining everything she believed about success, love, and identity. She didn’t know it then, but she was planting the seeds of a life lived from essence rather than expectation.

Reflection for You

Think back to a moment that changed you. Maybe it wasn’t dramatic or planned — maybe it was a quiet awakening that asked you to see life through new eyes.

Ask yourself:

What part of me began to awaken in that season?

And what truths did I stop pretending not to know?

You may find that your own evolution began not when you pushed harder, but when you finally allowed life to touch you deeply enough to remember what matters.

May your strength always be infused with serenity and remember….

Your Soul Belongs In Everything
